  • Tomatoes: Choose a pot 24" or more in diameter. Fill with potting mix and plant one tomato plant of your choice. As the tomatoes grow, the vines will need help to support the heavy tomatoes. Create a triangle with sticks or use a tomato cage purchased from any garden center. Do not over water, as that can promote disease.  Plant 2 or 3 cilantro and a couple pepper plants around the tomato if desired.

  • Onions: Choose a 24" pot. Fill with potting mix and plant onion seeds or bulbs (or a combination). Seed /bulb packets will give you hints on spacing and watering.

  • Peppers: Choose a 24" pot and plant one or two pepper plants. I plant two different kinds in my container for a variety of heat.  Banana, poblano or jalapeno peppers are my favorites. Many peppers also need support as they grow. Create a triangle with sticks or use a tomato cage purchased from any garden center.

  • Cilantro: Cilantro grows well with tomatoes and peppers. Plant 2 or 3 cilantro plants around the tomato and peppers.

Hint: Tomatoes and peppers like lots of sun, while onion and cilantro don't. If you plant the cilantro with the tomatoes and peppers, the taller plants can provide the cilantro some shade. You can also plant the cilantro in its own pot, and move it and the onion pot to a place that gets part sun and shade. Grow and enjoy!!!
