Throw an Herbal Cocktail Party

Here’s a fun way to celebrate the fresh flavors of your herb garden. Viv shares a few delicious cocktail recipes and how to make your containers of rosemary, mint and basil the inviting centerpiece of your party!

Lemon-Rosemary Gin Fizz

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ oz. gin

  • 1 ½ oz. club soda

  • ½ oz. rosemary-infused simple syrup (*see below)

  • Lemon slice for garnish

  • Rosemary sprig for garnish

Directions:

  1. Fill cocktail shaker with ice.

  2. Pour in gin and simple syrup.

  3. Shake and pour into martini glass.

  4. Add club soda, and garnish with lemon and rosemary.

*Rosemary-infused Simple Syrup

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup sugar

  • ½ cup water

  • Rosemary sprig

Directions:

  1. Combine sugar and water in a small saucepan.

  2. Stir on medium heat until boiling.

  3. Remove from heat.

  4. Add rosemary sprig, and allow to cool.

Vodka Cucumber-Basil Cooler

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ oz vodka

  • ½ oz fresh lime juice

  • ½ oz basil-infused simple syrup*

  • Cucumber slices (I cut the cucumber in wide ribbons so they curl in the glass)

  • Basil leaves

Directions:

  1. Pour vodka, lime juice and simple syrup into a shaker filled with ice.

  2. Shake and pour into glass.

  3. Garnish with cucumber and fresh basil.

*Simple Syrup

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup sugar

  • ½ cup water

  • 2 basil leaves

Directions:

  1. In a small saucepan, mix sugar and water and heat on medium to boiling.

  2. Remove from heat, add leaves and let cool.

Whiskey Smash with Lemon and Mint

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz whiskey or bourbon of choice

  • ½ oz simple syrup*

  • Lemon wedge

  • 2 mint leaves for muddling

  • Whole mint leaves for garnish

Directions:

  1. Muddle mint in shaker.

  2. Add whiskey, juice from lemon, simple syrup and ice.

  3. Shake then strain as you pour into glass.

  4. Garnish with mint leaves.

*Simple Syrup

  • ½ cup sugar

  • ½ cup water

 Directions:

  1. In a small saucepan, mix sugar and water and heat on medium to boil.

  2. Remove from heat and cool.

Strawberry-Mint Champagne Mojito

Ingredients:

  • Champagne of choice (chilled)

  • Simple syrup*

  • Mint leaves

  • Strawberries

Directions:

  1. Muddle a small strawberry and mint in champagne glass.

  2. Pour in ½ oz simple syrup (more or less to taste), fill the glass with champagne, garnish with strawberry (optional) and enjoy!
